Eric@explosive sent out an update regarding the intermittent problems we've been seeing.
Hi, as you may have noticed we've been experiencing intermittent connectivity problems on the T1 to XO.com. The problem manifests itself as a few seconds or minutes of total connectivity loss, then it's restored without degradation -- when it's working, it's fine, when it's broken it's just *gone*. The T1 carrier actually drops out when it goes down and we suspect a physical-layer problem with PacBell. There was a tech out last Friday who worked on the problem and put in a temporary fix but we have not gotten a "root-cause" solution from them yet. We've got a ticket open with XO and are working dilligently to get the problem resolved. I'll send another update as we make progress. Thanks for your patience.
One of the problems that we've had with using IMAP for email is what SMTP server to use to send email. It is now possible to relay email through Baler after you've successfully logged into the IMAP server.
Once connected your ip address is authorized to relay mail for the next 8 hours. After which you will have to sign on again. This will also work for any virtual domains that you have configured for IMAP.
The only configuration needed by the client is to set the outgoing SMTP server to: haybaler.sackheads.org
/home has gone blog! Now we'll be able to announce changes and additions to everyone, instead of leaving them in an IRC window and hoping that people see them.
